Approach

The objective of this study was to estimate the sediment yield for the Tawi River Basin. The magnitude of soil erosion varies spatially and is largely dependent on the characteristics of the soil, landuse, topographical features, and climatic conditions which mainly includes the variability in the rainfall intensities in the basin.

Deriving this spatial variation of the sediment yield from the basin is a key step in classifying the basin into various zones indicative of the severity of the soil erosion.

This may also be useful while quantifying the sediment inflow into the basin’s natural drainage network.
